Compression, Extension, & Torsion Springs


Compression Springs
Twist is capable of manufacturing these types of products from any type of material whether round, square, rectangular or even trapezoidal. In addition, we can produce to any configuration desired such as straight compression, conical, open or closed end, multi-diameter, multi-pitch and solid wound blanks. Utilizing in-line sensors and sorting devices, Twist is capable of controlling the most stringent of tolerance needs. Where end grinding is specified, Twist utilizes part specific tooling to control the process. Horizontal and vertical spindle grinders with custom control features and automation enable us to match the appropriate process to the part for optimum efficiency. Depending on complexity, Twist is also capable of in-line set removal and electronic gaging to restrict and separate inherent, abnormal variation.

Extension Springs
With CNC programmable equipment equipped with automated transfer stations, Twist is capable of manufacturing most all types of extension springs. While most extension springs employ standard machine hooks, we have the capability to produce crossover center, side, extended and special hook configurations as required. Where necessary, automated probe and sensing devices are used to control critical loop location requirements. In applications where there are space constraints or weight restrictions, Twist can aide in the design and development of linkages that can be utilized to divert known obstacles.

Torsion Springs
Because of our diverse line of manufacturing equipment, Twist is capable of producing complex torsion designs without the need of costly secondary operations. Torsion and spiral torsion springs can be produced from round, square or rectangular wire. Spiral torsion springs can also be made from strip steel. Depending on the volume and complexity, Twist has a multiple line of CNC programmable equipment that we can utilize to satisfy specific needs. In some cases, our tool design and development department has been successful in customizing specialty equipment for products that do not lend themselves to traditional manufacturing methods.
